Gokul Ranganathan, based out of Bangalore, is an amateur design enthusiast with a focus on behavioural, social, organizational and business systems. Gokul believes that design can bring about unconventional yet satisfying solutions to obvious, subtle and problems that are hardly realized and looked at. He constantly thinks about design, in its true sense, and is close to understanding it’s meaning in his own humble way. The understanding, which will eventually be shared in this blog, is driven by the observations, experiences, facts and deep thinking. One of things that inspire him to take an unconventional approach is the general adoption of a conventional approach and inability of hardcoded and rigid systems to break away from generalization and bring about a beneficiary-centric and loyalty-centric model with inbuilt self renewal mechanisms and keeping in check the ever prevalent assholes (Assholes as coined by Stanford Professor Bob Sutton; not literal; though such bullies are worth being baptized with the literal meaning)
Gokul, in his stint at one of the leading research lab in the world which uses multi disciplinary approach to solve day to day problems, has been a part of an end to end innovation cycle with hands on experience in an idea that could change the way content is being consumed and shared in a social and entertainment arenas over the broadcast medium. Gokul designed and managed a field trial across multiple territories to study the user behaviour and reaction. He has two invention disclosures with one patented and other pending for file. Moving on to a start up to get his hands dirty, he played the role of Business Architect in the design of enterprise transformation for enforcing an unified process and increase in service offering. Gokul thanks the participation he had in the design of a quote process for world’s largest shipping company. This gave phenomenal insights into the rigid nature of organizations. Such insights were gained from behavioural observations, decision making and over the lunch interviews with senior management. The application, designed for most revenue rich business region emnated from their top global and regional strategy. The model and system is currently under consideration for being globally implemented making it mission critical.
Gokul continues to observe, research and explore systems to identify problems with a design hat. He hopes to develop solutions to these over a period of time.
In his free time, Gokul spoils himself with music, spirituality, F1, automobiles and inner exploration.
